One of my favorite features of Google maps is its street view mode, which allows me to see what a particular location looks like without actually going there. Just look at it through my phone camera lens and I get a 360-degree panoramic view. This comes in especially handy when I’m traveling abroad since I can see how far away something is before making a journey there.
But how does that work?
Easy. On your phone, Google has preloaded photos of many streets and streetscapes around the world as part of its mapping services. Now, while navigating somewhere new (via Google maps), if there are no images available for that area yet but you would still like to see what it looks like via street view mode, then you can simply take a picture using your phone camera. Then once you upload that image back to Google servers, they’ll convert it into a 2D street-level image that shows up on your phone as soon as you select street view mode. Magic!
Lastly, one more feature of Google maps public transit. Have you ever wanted to catch a train or bus but didn’t know how to figure out schedules? Well, now there’s an app for that. Google recently added a public transit layer onto its maps service so users can easily view routes and timetables for buses, trains, ferries, etc.

Adding stops
The movement might not always be direct from Location A to Location B, sometimes one might have to drop by to pick something or someone up. Google maps can help keep track of such points during your trips.
Click on the area near the bottom of the screen where the estimated arrival time is displayed, "click search along the route" and search for your stop. The stops can be typed in specific addresses or general interests.
Google Maps will search for places that match your quest along your route. When you find the one you'd like to add as a stop, just tap it on the map, and Google will add it to your trip.
